Rail Corridor

Standard work hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am–7pm, and any out-of-hours works are indicated below. You can also visit the Project Team in person at the Community Hub. Visitors are welcome to drop in during the following times:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays weekly, during business hours

The Community Hub is located at 71 Ewing Street, Bentley (between Sevenoaks Street and Albany Highway).


Out-of-hours works

The following activities may take place out-of-hours as required, until late May:

  • painting of abutment walls
  • steel fixing, form work and concrete pouring 
  • track finishing works
  • station building works
  • station car park and bus interchange works
  • installation of public space elements.

Station works

There will be an increase in dust, noise and vibration during works at all new station sites for works including concrete pouring, drainage installation, structural steel installation, brickwork, internal fit outs and glazing. See project zone pages for details at each station site.


Site surveying (ongoing)

Site surveying, including use of drones at various locations along the rail corridor will take place regularly. Drone surveying will follow Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements.


Service relocations, including Transmission lines (ongoing)

There will be an increase in dust, noise and vibration during location and relocation of services including power, gas, water and telecommunications at various locations along the rail corridor. This also includes Western Power works to move overhead transmission lines outside of the rail corridor. These works will enable the elevated rail infrastructure to be built. Driver Training (ongoing)

There will be an increase of trains on the tracks between Carlisle and Beckenham stations as driver training is underway. This is an important part of the commissioning process before passenger services resume on Monday 9 June.


Shared paths (ongoing)

There will be traffic management in place along the shared path. For shared path detours and access maps, see the respective project location areas for more details.  


Public space works

There will be an increase in dust, noise and vibration during works for the new public spaces being built underneath the elevated rail. These works will include:

  • earthworks and vegetation clearing 
  • drainage installation
  • installation of public space elements
  • painting of concrete elements of the elevated rail structure
  • pedestrian pathway construction
  • car park and bus interchange construction
  • construction of noise wall near Cannington Station
  • ground preparation and landscaping works.
     

Victoria Park Area

Out-of-hours works 

  • Carlisle and Oats Street Station building works, until early June (as required) with traffic management in place as required.
  • station fit out, car park, bus interchange, Oats Street intersection and passenger connection works until early June 2025, 7pm to 7am Monday to Sunday and 7am to 7pm Sundays, as required.
  • closure of Bank Street southbound between Oats Street and Milford Street from 7am, 30 May, until 5pm, 6 June. This closure is required for road modification and station precinct works.
  • closure of Oats Street between Tuckett Street and Read Street, will be closed from 7pm, 5 June until 5am, 6 June for intersection finishing works and preparation for traffic signal commussioning.
  • closure of Bank Street southbound between Oats Street and Somerset Street from 5am, 8 May, until 5pm, 6 June. This closure is required for road modification and station precinct works.


Mint Archer Street intersection modification works

There will be thoroughfare closures impacting Mint/Archer Street, Bank Street and Rutland Avenue. The closures are required to rebuild the Mint/Archer Street intersections, at Bank Street and Rutland Avenue and will be in place until early June 2025.

The works will impact (see map below):

  • Mint/Archer Street between Bank Street and Rutland Avenue
  • Mint Street at the intersection of Beatty Avenue
  • Bank Street at the intersection of Dane Street 
  • Archer Street at the intersection of Rutland Avenue (travelling northbound and southbound).

 *Local access arrangements will be in place to retain access to properties. 

The Mint/Archer Street between Bank Street and Rutland Avenue intersection arrangement on works completion (the shared path connection will be constructed as part of the public space works and may not be available at completion of intersection works):

 


Oats Street intersection modification works

The construction of the Oats Street intersection is now complete (the shared path connection will be constructed as part of the public space works and is not yet available). Traffic signals will be commissioned the night of Friday, 6 June. Please drive with care through the new signalised intersection.


Station works

There may be an increase in lighting, dust, noise and vibration from works to construct the stations at Carlisle and Oats Street, including: 

  • platform construction including structural steel and concrete
  • installing external frameworks, including cladding and glazing
  • bricklaying, paving and construction of various rooms
  • building fit out, including painting, tiling, essential services and finishing works. 

Temporary parking restrictions (until mid-2025)

There will be changes to parking restrictions along Bank Street to enable heavy haulage deliveries until mid-2025.

Welshpool Area

Welshpool Road intersection modification 

Construction of the final Welshpool Road intersection is now complete (see map below). The shared path bridge will open in mid-2025. 

Queens Park Area

  • station construction fit out, car park, bus interchange and passenger connection works from 7pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday and 7am to 7pm Sundays, as required
  • painting of abutment walls as required from 7pm to 7am.

Principal Shared Path works

There may be an increase in noise, vibration and dust during principal shared path construction works, which include ground penetration, asphalting and line marking works.

Northbound access to Railway Parade businesses will be available via George Street, Centre Street and Treasure Road. This arrangement will be in place from:

  • 7am Monday 19 May to 5pm Friday 6 June. 



Please follow local traffic management signage in place. 


Hamilton Street intersection modification works

The major road modification works at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Sevenoaks Street are now complete. There will be left only turn restrictions in place to/from Hamilton Street until the new traffic signals are commissioned. This is expected to occur before mid-2025, when the new Hamilton Street arrangement will be as below (The shared path connection will be constructed as part of the upcoming public space works)


Wharf Street intersection modification works

The road modification works at the intersection of Wharf Street and Sevenoaks Street are now complete, the new arrangement can be seen below. 

The shared path connection will be constructed as part of the upcoming public space works.


Station works

There may be an increase in lighting, dust, noise and vibration from works to construct the station, such as:

  • platform construction including structural steel and concrete
  • installing external frameworks, including cladding and glazing
  • bricklaying, paving and construction of various rooms
  • building fit out, including painting, tiling, essential services and finishing works. 

Short-term traffic management will be in place when required to facilitate deliveries near the station.

Cannington Area

Standard work hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am–7pm, and any out-of-hours works are indicated below. All works will follow approved noise and traffic management plans, and every effort will be made to minimise impacts. Motorists can expect intermittent lane closrues on Sevenoaks Street northbound, between Gerard Street and Wharf Street until late June 2025.


Road surface works

Road surface works will be underway between Wharf Street and Bent Street in Cannington. There may be an increase in noise and vibration during these works. 

Sevenoaks Street will be closed between Wharf Street and Cecil Avenue. Local property access will be maintained at all times. This arrangement will be in place from:

  • 7pm Tuesday 10 June to 5am Wednesday 11 June 2025
  • 7pm Wednesday 11 June 2025 to 5am Thursday 12 June 2025
  • 7pm Thursday 12 June 2025 to 5am Friday 13 June 2025.


Principal Shared Path Works

Works to construct the Principal Shared Path along Railway Parade, between Gibbs Street and Fitzroy Street will be underway from 7 am, Monday, 2 June to 5pm, Saturday, 7 June 2025.

  • The northbound lane will be closed during these works. 
  • A local detour will be in place for vehicles. 
  • Pedestrian access in the area will be available along the eastern pathway on Railway Parade.


Out-of-hours works

  • early morning concrete pours and painting works until late April, as required from 5am.
  • station fit out, car park, bus interchange and passenger connection works until late May 2025, 7pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday and 7am to 7pm Sundays, as required.
  • painting of abutment walls as required, until late May, 7pm to 7am.

Wharf Street intersection modification works

The road modification works at the intersection of Wharf Street and Sevenoaks Street are now complete, the new arrangement can be seen below. Shared path works are ongoing.

Works related to Thornlie-Cockburn Link

Out-of-hours works 

  • station construction fit out, car park, bus interchange and passenger connection works until late May 2025, 7pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday and 7am to 7pm Sundays, as required
  • painting of abutment walls as required, until late May, 7pm to 7am.

Road surface works

Road surface upgrade works will be underweay between Lacey Street and William Street in Beckenham. There may be an increase in noise and vibration during these works. 

Railway Parade between Lacey Street and William Street in Beckenham. Local property access will be maintained at all times. This arrangement will be in place from: 

  • 7am Friday 2 May to 8pm Thursday 15 May 2025.


William Street intersection modification works

There will be staged thoroughfare closures impacting William Street, Sevenoaks Street and Railway Parade in Beckenham, within the City of Gosnells. The closures are required to rebuild the William Street intersections, at Sevenoaks Street and Railway Parade. Traffic management is proposed in stages to minimise impacts and to maintain vehicle and pedestrian access through this area.

Ongoing construction to June 2025

  • Changed traffic conditions are in place to facilitate road and footpath construction works.
  • Changed traffic conditions will be in place on William Street, for eastbound movements between Bickley Road and Sevenoaks Street:
    • A detour will be in place while works are completed between Bickley Road and Sevenoaks Street
    • Access will be available by detouring via Sevenoaks Street, Crawford Street, Grey Street and Bickley Street until traffic lights are installed in early May
    • William Street westbound open, however no access is available to Sevenoaks Street
    • Sevenoaks Street southbound traffic can access William Street in both directions. 

William Street eastbound detour route and available movements at intersection are shown below. 


Weekend intersection works

William Street and Sevenoaks Street intersection will be closed, between Bickley Street and Central Terrace. Sevenoaks Street will be closed between William Street and Crawford Street.

  • detours will be in palce from 7 pm, Friday, 6 June to 5 am, Sunday, 8 June 2025.
  • A free bus shuttle service will be available from Lacey Street to transfer passengers to and from the temporary Cannington bus interchange from 7pm, Friday 6 June to 5am Sunday 2025 during 2025 timetabled services.
  • A Sevenoaks Street detour will be in place from Bickley Road, detouring traffic via Grey Street and Crawford Street.
  • Railway Parade will be closed between William Street and Lacey Street.
  • Local resident and business access will be maintained throughout the closure.

Temporary closure of shared path over roe highway

Upgrading rail corridor fencing and track maintenance between beckenham and kenwick stations, with a shared path detour between ladywell street and wanaping road, until may 2025.
